Martyrs are those who contibuted their lives for the nation

Yearly, we all celebrates Martyrs Day on Magh 16 and talks about the dream seen be the martyrs. On the martyrs day we all Nepalese remembers such person who have died for the benefit of nation fighting until their last stage of life. Martyrs itself explains that martyrs are those people who had died happily for the nation during Rana period. Mostly we remembers four names as martyrs and honor them on Magh 16 but actually nowadays it has been difficult to distinguish the martyrs on the day of martyrs day.


Martyrs day was celebrated on Magh 16 remembering and honoring the four people who had died happily for the benefit of public rights and democracy. From Magh 10 to 16 it has been celebrated as memorial week yearly. Last few years on the day of martyrs day few context are getting its priority. These four people are renowned as martyrs for their contribution towards the nation who have raised voice against Rana rule and was killed by Rana rulers.


Sukra Raj Sashtri, Dharma Bhakta Mathema, Dasarath Chand and Ganga Lal Shrestha were killed for blaming of protesting of autocratic rule during Rana period. They have been given death penalty. This incident was held on BS 1997 from Magh 10- 15. After that incident from Magh 10-16 it has been celebrating as memorial week from BS1998 Magh 10- 16 every time by the political prisoners that have been imprisoned in Kathmandu prison in that period.
