Stalled Melamchi drinking water campaign

Basanti Maharjan, February 11, 2016 (Dcnepal) – It is the program Khoj Khabar broadcasts from Sagarmatha TV. Today the program talks about Melamchi drinking water campaign. It has been 26 years since it has been discussed to bring Melamchi drinking water campaign in Kathmandu and 15 years the work has started for it but yet it’s incomplete.


Ministers, Governmental officials and even leaders had claimed Melamchi drinking water would be brought in Kathmandu at 2073 BS Baisakh but it has been additional confusion that now when will Melamchi water will come to Kathmandu.


Last Baisakh to till the date the work of Melamchi drinking water campaign has been stalled totally. As contractor company asked for additional of 5 million euro extra, the campaign has been stalled and was doubt when will the campaign will complete.


There are more gossips than of work in Melamchi drinking water campaign. It was only limited on a slogan to bring Melamchi water in Kathmandu within Baisakh 2063. There was dispute between contractor and campaign, and it affected to the people of Valley.


The hope of citizens from valley is Melamchi drinking water that has been living life in scarcity of drinking water presently. The work for the campaign was started past 15 years investing millions of amount but yet there are no waters flowing of Melamchi in the taps of valley and there is the doubts too when will the Melamchi water will flow.


Earlier this City Development Ministry Dr. Narayan Khadka claimed to bring Melamchi water on 1st Baisakh of 2063 Bs along with he had been seated as ministry. But the statement of the minister was only limited in the gossips and not more than that anything else.
