1200 MW of Budhigandaki Hydro Project - Rumour, Illusion and Facts

Chiranjeevee Pokhrel for DCnepal, Feb 02, 2016 - The issue of Budhigandaki Hydropower Project is increasing high due to Terai Movement, Indian blockade, Fuel Crisis and increasing Load-shedding schedule. The place that is close to the capital and ready with infrastructure development, which has been planned to generate 1200 MW electricity for all 12 months.



This is why there is rapid increment in four-dimensional pressure. Today, we are talking about the same Budhigandaki Hydropower. The higly awaited and burning issue of Hydropower is Budhigandaki Hydro Project.


Since last some years, the Prime Minister and the Energy Minister of each government has been saying to proceed the work placing the project in high priority to this project and accomplish it in time, which is also been said as the national pride and the high priority project.

How is the project that is capable of generating 12 MW of hydro electricity? Also, what are the preparations going on for the project?


When the nation is suffering from the extreme load-shedding schedule and facing fuel crisis, there is special extreme issue and analysis about the Budhigandaki HPP.


Though Feasibility study and detailed design of Budhi Gandai HPP has been issued for a long; however, the last crisis of fuel has added high priority to Budhigandaki HPP because it will be the best project for reducing the existing energy crisis, the most reliable, long lasting, and feasible project.


At a distance of 80 Km. from the capital Kathmandu, the project is very near to Prithivi Highway. And, most of the infrastructures of development have been reached to the nearest of the workstation of the project.
